So, I don't have any base knowledge of working in any DAW, but like I've said, I'm a quick study. Am I missing something? It's very confusing at this point, as I've bought the gear, but because I got both the MX, and the new Computer just two days ago, I've not had time to hook anything up yet, and haven't ever viewed any DAW except for pictures of their graphics, and Reaper looks more intuitive to an old tape guy, and through months of reading, I've decided it was more my style. Now, we know that I'm totally uneducated in digital recording, but it would seem that if I want to utilize the included VSTs, I will have to run them through AI7, back to the synth, then as WAV audio into my recorder, or into Reaper from the stereo out pair. However, the Yamaha rep who moderates their Motif,(Motifator), site, who may be wrong, said that none of the Steinberg VSTs packaged with the MX series synths will work in DAWs that don't support VST3. Yes, I understand that the 1106 voices that are internal will record directly into pretty much anything. Thanks again for your time Darkstar, you da man, Keith I have a 2 TB 7200 RPM main drive, and will be getting a 256ssd, so I seriously doubt the little bit of cubase AI I use will be any kind of issue computer wise, and running 16 gigs of ram too.ĭoes that sound workable? To my totally challenged behind, it sounds perfectly logical in theory? Anyone else feel free to school me as well. Since I'm going to be tracking on the DP24, and mixing in Reaper, couldn't I just load the free base AI7, to get the use of the voices the keyboard has, and that can be manipulated, and patches edited, as well as the sequencer in Cubase, record those tracks to the DP, which converts everything to WAV, and export the files to Reaper, and do my editing, mixing in Reaper just fine that way? ![]() I think I have a solution, but I'm so new to this, I would like your opinion. The point is, you are helping so many people on here, it amazes me. Darkstar, I don't know if you are retired or not, I'm trying to get to where I can, so I can spend my time making all the music I should have made in my 20's, but women, and drugs took up the vast majority of my time then.
